LESSON PLAN : It tastes good!!

TOPIC: Eating out TIMING : 3 sessions
LEARNING AIMS:
- To participate in speeches and short simulations to talk about processes, food and at the restaurant, using the necessary strategies to solve the difficulties during the interaction

Earthquake in Lorca

Earthquake hits southern Spain (11th May 2011)

The 5.2 magnitude earthquake was felt across the Murcia region.
The epicentre was registered in the Tercia mountain range close to the town of Lorca, where several buildings were destroyed including a medieval church bell tower. It was the worst earthquake in Spain for 50 years.
Authorities confirmed that at least ten people had died, including a child of 13 years old.
The biggest earthquake to hit Europe in recent years occurred in April 2009 when a 5.8 magnitude earthquake hit L'Aquila in central Italy killing over 300 people.

Experiments

Option 1:INVISIBLE INK WITH LEMON JUICE
Materials:
-Half a lemon
-Bowl
-Cotton bud or paintbrush
-White paper
-Lamp, light bulb or heat source
Instructions:
-Squeeze the lemon juice into the bowl.
-Think about a secret message
-Dip the cotton bud into the liquid and write the message on the white paper.
-Wait for the juice to dry.
-Heat the paper by holding it close to a light bulb.
-Read the message!!!
Option 2: MAGIC MILK
Materials:
-Whole milk
-Food colouring
- Dish
- Cotton bud
- Dishwashing liquid (fairy or similar)
Instructions:
1. Put ½ cup of milk into a dish.
2. Add 2 drops of food colouring in different areas of the dish. You can use 4 different colours.
3. Put a drop of dishwashing liquid in the cotton bud.
4. Put the cotton bud with the dishwashing liquid into the centre of the dish of milk.
5. Observe what happens.
